Abstract

The CO2 flux monitoring in an evergreen needle leaf forest (Japanese red pine) was started in 1999, in the temperate region in Japan. The description of the site and the instrumentation, and the seasonal change in the NEE are the main focuses of this report. The outline of the FFPRI Flux Net also is briefly introduced.
As a result of the observation in 2000, the NEE showed the maximum absorption in May, and then the NEE decreased from May to September as the nighttime NEE increase. The NEE basically changed along the variation of the radiation and the temperature, those which had a phase difference of about two month. The large inter-annual variation in the NEE also was suggested.
