- Added 1:50,000 soil maps of private (non-national) forests in Nagano, Gifu, and Kumamoto prefectures, published in the Report on Land and Species Selection Survey for Private Forests. Changed the way soil map legends are displayed. We are aware of very slow map loading and plan to improve performance once a solution is found.

- Added CS maps newly available on the Forestry Agency’s page on the G-Spatial Information Center website. You can now view data source information by clicking the “i” button next to a layer heading.

- Fixed an issue that had prevented some national forest soil maps from displaying correctly since around November 2024. We apologize for the inconvenience. Also made the layer opacity sliders easier to use.

- Added CS maps published by the Forestry Agency for Noto (post-earthquake), Nagaoka (post-earthquake), Tochigi, Hyogo, and Kochi. You can now compare the post-earthquake Noto map with the pre-earthquake map already available on this site.

- Fixed issues with map controls on smartphones and tablets to improve usability on mobile devices. Also added a place-name search feature.

- Published a CS map of the Noto Peninsula in response to the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake. Please note that the map uses elevation data collected before the earthquake, between 2020 and 2023.

- Published soil property maps and added soil profile sketches for the rest of Hokkaido, extending coverage to the entire island.

- Added a geological map layer and a 3D view for map layers. Also added soil profile sketches to records in the soil survey database for part of the area formerly managed by the Asahikawa Regional Forestry Office.

- National forest soil maps can now be viewed in Geological Map Navi, a map viewer provided by the Geological Survey of Japan, AIST (view the maps).
